Grapes are the sweetest and most diverse variety of fruit in the world. Therefore, they are the most common of all fruits for distilling alcohol. At Jullius we distill grapes in two ways: First by distilling wine for brandy. Another way to produce alcohol from grapes is by distilling pomace (solid remains of grapes after they’re pressed into wine). In every country that has a wine industry, there is a pomace distillation industry alongside it. Italian grappa is the best known example of this beverage category. The French "Marc", the Bulgarian Rakia and the Georgian Chacha are also popular drinks in their countries. Traditionally, these drinks are sipped at the end of a meal. But if you ask us, they are delicious anywhere and anytime.
